Melton 2006 - the escorted approach
About HuntRides.co.uk

We want to pull together all the available information about hunt rides and post it on the web-site on a regular basis. This should help organisers, riders and supporters to plan their involvement. It is early days but we have the bones of a calendar for the season and details of some organisers. As the site develops we hope to feature far more information: race reports, rider profiles, photos, history etc.

Hunt Rides, as the Jockey Club requires them to be called, vary in distance and difficulty. This website is to deal only with those rides which can be more correctly described as "races". In some cases they will not relate to specific hunts as with, for example the Melton. The Ride Calendar page shows our calendar for the season plus the names of organisers and their e-mail addresses.

We are keen to publish in full the rules which apply to hunt races . These are rather hard to get hold of in official form since the Jockey Club ceded regulation to the British Horseracing Authority.

We also intend to introduce an archive or history section so that the achievements of current and former riders are not forgotten. Bailys Hunting Directory, the bible of foxhunting and associated activities, now features a review of the hunt ride scene and has done so in the last two editions. We hope to reproduce these reviews with the publishers consent. Of course, you can always buy the Directory itself , (which is what the publishers intended!) It costs 39.95 from Bailys, Chesterton Mill, Frenchs Road, Cambridge CB4 3NP. Tel 01223 350 555 Fax 01223 356 484. Now in its 101st edition it is an invaluable source of information and worth every penny, particularly if you visit different packs up and down the country.
